Can I purchase marijuana for recreational consumption in Steamboat?
Yep, you sure can! The Billo Premium Cannabis Dispensary is a fully licensed and legal cannabis retailer. Adults age 21+ with a government issued ID can legally purchase marijuana products for recreational consumption. Accepted forms of identification include a valid driver’s license or passport. Customers will be asked to provide their ID upon entering the facility. Anyone without a valid ID with them will be kindly asked to step outside of the dispensary. Sorry, this is a non-negotiable legal restriction of operating a recreational cannabis dispensary in Colorado. As much as we’d love to take your word for it, all patrons not matter their age will need to provide their ID.
Is there a limit to how much I can buy?
Colorado marijuana law specifies that customers can purchase up to 1 ounce of cannabis products per day. If you’re buying a mix of flower, concentrates, and/or edibles, our budtenders are trained to identify the legal weight equivalents and guide you in your purchase. This limit is defined per person so if you’re part of a group looking to purchase more than 1 ounce, plan accordingly and buy your products separately. Anytime money is pooled among a group of individuals the transaction is considered one purchase and will be held to the 1 ounce maximum weight equivalent.
How much marijuana can I carry with me?
In the state of Colorado, individuals who are 21 or older may have up to 1 ounce of cannabis products on their person at any time. Marijuana may be transported in your vehicle but must be in a closed and sealed container. If there is any evidence of consumption in the vehicle or if contents of your container have been removed, you are most likely in violation of Colorado Open Container Law. Consumption of marijuana in any form while in a vehicle is strictly prohibited by statute and considered a violation of Colorado Open Container Law (similar to alcohol).
Can I take marijuana out of Colorado when I leave?
No. This is in direct violation of Federal Law and subject to a felony crime. Even if the marijuana you purchased was legally obtained in Steamboat Springs it cannot be shipped or otherwise transported outside of Colorado. Airports such as the Yampa Valley Regional Airport and Denver International Airport have security measures in place to detect cannabis products packed in luggage. And of course, the United States Postal Service restricts the packaging and shipment of cannabis in the mail. Best to be safe and smart. Consume any marijuana you’ve purchased while still in Steamboat Springs or dispose of it before you depart.
Where can I legally consume cannabis in Steamboat Springs?
This is the question we get asked on a regular basis. While marijuana is legal to purchase and possess, there are strict guidelines in place for where it can be consumed. Consumption of marijuana in any form (smoking, vaping, or eating) is prohibited in any public venue. Consumption in private residences is legal if allowed by the property owner. Please understand that many lodging properties in Steamboat strictly prohibit smoking or vaping marijuana within their guest rooms and common areas. Under Colorado’s Clean Indoor Air Act, smoking marijuana is prohibited anywhere that smoking tobacco is prohibited. Marijuana consumption is banned while on federal land including ski slopes, national forests, and parks. Smoking weed on chairlifts or on the Steamboat gondola is also a big no-no. The Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation has a zero-tolerance rule for marijuana consumption at the resort so avoid blazing up while there. And lastly, consumption of marijuana is strictly prohibited while at the Billo Premium Cannabis Dispensary state-licensed facility. Please take the products you purchase off of the premises before consuming.
