Steamboat Whiskey Company, Steamboat’s hometown distillery located on 11th and Lincoln in downtown Steamboat Springs, is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded six medals at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the longest running spirits competition and considered to be one of the most prestigious! Three of those medals were Double Gold medals. Warrior Whiskey™, Ski Town Tiki Rum, and Ski Town Orange Whiskeycello™ took these top honors in the professional blind tasting. Our Sleeping Giant Gin won Gold for the second time. Lemon Whiskeycello and our soon to-be-released horseradish root Vodka “Warrior Hrenovuha” brought home a silver medals.
DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL WINNERS
Warrior Whiskey™, the company’s flagship is a blend of rye and wheated bourbon whiskey finished in a Caribbean rum cask. The blend is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) and a portion of the profits from every bottle sale are donated to veteran support organizations. The bottles sell for $50.
Ski Town Tiki Rum is an expression which took over a year to develop and is truly unique to American rums. It is fermented from a 50:50 blend of the highest quality blackstrap molasses, panela sugar. A specialty yeast is used, and the rum is made in a single distillation in Colorado’s only double retort still achieving a full-bodied flavor not attainable in a pot or column still. Tiki Rum is bottled at 80 proof (40% AVB) and sells for $26.
Ski Town Orange Whiskeycello™ is a unique specialty liqueur. The spirit blends Warrior Whiskey™ and several pounds of fresh orange peels. It macerates for weeks creating a superiorly unique take on cello and/or flavored whiskey. The beautiful texture and flavor created using the Warrior Whiskey and natural orange oils brings this type of spirit to new heights. Best enjoyed as a digestive or dessert. Retail price $33.d
GOLD MEDAL WINNER
Sleeping Giant Gin is a savory spirit crafted from corn and potatoes with Rocky Mountain snowmelt and botanicals. This gin is considered a contemporary American gin because it uses some unique botanicals like gun power green tea and strawberry leaf. Sleeping Giant Gin also brought home a gold in this same competition in 2019. Retail price $35
SILVER MEDAL WINNERS
Hrenovuha “wren-nova” takes traditional Eastern European potato vodka and transforms it into a spicy and creamy horseradish root spirit. Hrenovuha was classically consumed chilled with pickles on the side or with added citrus or spices. A portion of the profits from the sale of Warrior Hrenovuha go directly to veteran support organizations so they may continue the important work of helping our American heroes.
Ski Town Lemoncello Whiskeycello™ is our other popular dessert liqueur. The spirit blends Warrior Whiskey™ and several pounds of fresh orange peels.
