Willy Wonka has nothing on Daniela. Cuz’ Willy never made chocolates for Jay Leno. Yep, as well as carrying kitchenware from chefs knives to handcrafted cutting boards, Steamboat’s own gourmet kitchen store The Homesteader is home to Daniela’s Chocolates. The chocolate confectioner was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, where she studied chocolate-making, before moving to Steamboat Springs, where she’s been crafting such chocolates and sweets as truffles, toffee, caramels, and more since 2009. And lest you doubt her mouth-watering credentials, for years she made chocolates for Jay Leno, with her treats enjoyed in the green room by “The Tonight Show” guests.
