From cowboys to Calcutta. West End Sports Grill is officially hasta luego, and in its place is now Sherpa Spice. Restaurateur Narayan Ramjali’s is slinging the culinary heritage of India, Nepal, and Tibet downtown after opening the doors of Sherpa Spice at 1106 Lincoln Ave. this past fall. Ramjali, who owns two other restaurants in Brighton and Denver, says it’s different than other Indian restaurants because they have yak, the “Himalayan mountain cow.” The menu features yak meat and various Himalayan dishes served in a variety of spice levels, including a large selection of sizzling tandoori dishes with chicken, shrimp, or salmon. You’ll also find lamb, paneer tikka, and such Nepali offerings as chicken, vegetable and chili momos (dumplings), and more. For apps, try pakora, pani-puri, chicken wings, and a variety of naan flatbread. We wanted to give our customers a lot of options, so that’s why we have dishes from India, Nepal, and Tibet,” he says.
