Dusky Grouse Coffee has migrated, opening its second location, Common Grouse Coffee, at the Commons. Owner Stephany Traylor says the new location brings a great new coffee vibe to downtown and lets customers enjoy their offerings in the large common dining area, private mezzanine upstairs, or on the deck overlooking Butcherknife Creek outside. Building on Dusky Grouse’s success at its original mid-valley location, the two locations will maintain their own character, but will be run as one business. With a menu including scones, muffins, cookies, breakfast sandwiches, burritos, breads, soups, turkey pesto sandwiches and more, the new location will utilize the Commons’ kitchen facilities for their offerings, as well as serving doughnuts from Powder Day and bagels from Colorado Bagel Co. On the coffee front, it uses Seattle’s Victrola Coffee Roasters and offers espresso, lattes, Americano, cortado, cappuccino latte mocha, cold brew and more, as well as teas, green juice, smoothies and more.

The Local

Get yer’ burger on at The Local, the Commons’ newest burger-only food vendor located downstairs. Showcasing beef and bison burgers, a melt, unique side dishes and more, the new eatery is “just a fun, cheap burger place,” maintains owner Savana Crow, who keeps prices low with a single burger for just $10 and a double for $12. Located in the alley next to Clyde’s Pies, The Local capitalizes on Crow’s success with her first burger location in Craig at the Yampa Valley Brewing Co. Mainstays include the Classic Smash, topped with American cheese, pickles and fry sauce for $8; The Local, a burger topped with Gouda, house aioli, red onion, lettuce, tomato and pickles; and a patty melt served on brioche toast, topped with American and Swiss cheese, grilled onions and spicy shake sauce. It also offers such sides as seasoned tater tots, parmesan garlic fries and sriracha Brussels sprouts tossed in a sweet chili sauce with crushed peanuts.
